Remembering in our prayers those impacted by 9/11: This Sunday is the 15th anniversary of the horrific attacks in New York, Washington DC, and the downed plane in Pennsylvania. We remember the thousands who were killed that day and their many families and friends who were impacted, as well as our country and the world (how much has sadly changed in our world due to those terrible events). Let us bring, in a greater way, our country, and the world to our prayers - that the heart of Christ will be victorious and bring about a much-needed transformation of hearths. Let us pray also for healing of those still overwhelmed as a result of these tragedies.
The hymnal and the responsorial psalm: Many have noted the frustration that the Responsorial Psalm we proclaim or sing at Mass is not matching the wording of the one found in the hymnal. When we bought the hymnals we did not know there was this difference. If you remember, back in 2002 there was a new translation of the lectionary promulgated, but it appears the publisher of our humnal, GIA, since they had written music settings to the old translation, did not make new musical settings to account for the new translation, so they continue to publish the old translation. So when it comes to proclaiming and singing the Responsorial Psalm we are going to have to be attentive to listening and praying as we hear it and be unable to read along (unless we have a missal or booklet with us that has the correct translation). Sorry for any inconvenience.
Please remember in your prayers: Last week one of our parishioners passed away, Dora Dutra, the wife of Carl Dutra. Her funeral was last Saturday. Please pray for the great mercy of God be showered upon her and that she may be resting in the peace and glory of God. Also, please pray for her husband Carl and their family as they face this difficult time.
Income and expenses for August: Our income for August (excluding the Assumption and Diocesan collections): $37,452.39. Our expenses (excluding the Assumption and Diocesan collections): $33,528.08. Thank you all for your generous support for our parish family!
Interested in being a church bell ringer: If you are interested in joining the other parishioners who ring the church bell for calling people to Mass, ring at the consecration, and ring as people leave, please get in touch with me for a very brief training, at which time you can let me know which Mass you want me to put you on the schedule for ringing.
