YOUNG MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH (Grades 7 & above) are welcome to join us THIS SUN, MAY 23, at the Parish Center after the 11:45 a.m. Mass.  We will do Improv Exercises, spend time with the Lord and end with touch football.  Food & Fun for all.

YOUNG MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH, GRADES 8 - 12, who would like to join us this summer for STEUBENVILLE EAST WEEKEND CONFERENCE, to be held at the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI, from July 23 - 25, are asked to get a registration form at the entrance of Church and get it back to Karen ASAP.  The cost is $190.00 per person and includes lodging in the dorms at URI and all meals.  We need a deposit of $50.00 in order to hold a place.   Many of our young people have attended in the past. MAY IS THE MONTH OF OUR BLESSED MOTHER. We encourage each parishioner to make a special effort to pray to Mary, particularly the Rosary, during the month of May.  We have so many intentions for which to pray and Mary will intercede with the Lord for all of us.

Young members of our parish, Grades 7 & above as well as any families who wish to come are invited to join us for a camping trip at the Mohawk State Park. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: SAVE THE DATES NOW!  Aug. 2 -6th from 9 a.m. - Noon each day.  This year's theme is "RAINFOREST".  People of all ages are invited to help out. OUR ANNUAL PARISH TRIP TO THE PAWSOX is on Thurs., July 1.  The Game starts at 6:05 p.m. and will be followed by A GREAT FIREWORKS DISPLAY.  Tickets are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.  We are "car pooling" to keep costs down.  If you need a ride, let us know and we will provide one for you.  Tickets are $11.00 per person.  Order Forms/Permission Slips are available at the entrances of Church.  Call Karen at 508-824-3578 to order them and meet with her to pay for them.

HOLY FAMILY RESPECT FOR LIFE COMMITTEE will have its final meeting of the season THIS THURSDAY, MAY 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Parish Center.  We thank the committee for all of its hard work to promote a greater respect for the gift of human life for what it is, A GIFT FROM GOD.  Anyone interested in joining in this good work is welcome to this meeting.

WOULD YOU HELP US PRAY FOR VOCATIONS?  Each week a family/member of our parish is invited to take home the VOCATION PRAYER CROSS and pray each day that week for vocations to priesthood, diaconate and religious life.  We are in need of more volunteers for the upcoming months.  The sign-up sheet is at the table near the stairs to the choir loft.  If you have never done this, would you consider trying it?  See Fr. Jay if you have any questions.

BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 4 - 13 years old, who come from low income families and would like to attend Summer Day Camp at Cathedral Camp this year are invited to register on Thurs., June 3, from 5 - 7 p.m. OR Sat., June 5, from 10 a.m. - Noon at the ST. VINCENT DE PAUL CENTER, 141 Washington St., Taunton.  Phone number there is 508-823-6676.  The St. Vincent de Paul Society provides one week of camp.  Bus Transportation provided.  8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m., with extended day offered.  A copy of your child's immunizations, obtained from your doctor or school nurse MUST be brought to registration.

WHAT IS OUR "EASTER DUTY"?  This question is often asked during this Season.  The new Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us of the following: "We are obliged as Catholics to confess our sins AT LEAST once a year and to receive Holy Communion during the Easter Season (From Easter Sunday through Pentecost)".  The Church encourages us to receive Holy Communion, if we are properly disposed, each time we take part in Mass.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO DONATE FLOWERS FOR OUR SANCTUARY in memory of deceased family members or friends or in honor of family members or friends still living?  WE HAVE OPENINGS FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEKENDS: June 12 - 13; June 26 - 27.  The donation is $60.00.  If you wish to donate flowers please contact the Office as soon as possible.  We will work it on a first come, first served basis.

CONGRATULATIONS to our parishioners who are graduating from high school this year.  As a parish family we wish you all the best in whatever path you may follow.  May you have the strength to use the gifts and talents given to you by God for your own good and the good of others.

OUR ANNUAL CATHOLIC CHARITIES APPEAL FOR THE DIOCESE OF FALL RIVER is underway.  You have hopefully received a letter by this time asking for your assistance in the Appeal.  In the midst of these difficult economic times, please consider the many people who are helped by your generosity.  Just here in the Taunton area, full time Catholic Chaplains at Morton Hospital are funded by the Appeal and the St. Francis Shelter (the homeless shelter in Taunton) is run by our Catholic Social Services, which is funded by the Appeal.  Additionally, the Taunton Area Catholic Youth Organization (CYO)(in which over 250 of our own young people participated this year) is also a beneficiary of the Appeal.  You may put your donation in the collection basket, mail it, or bring it in person to the Parish Office.  Please use the return envelope that was provided in the mailing.  A "PLEDGE" (payable monthly, quarterly or semi-annually) would allow you to spread out the payment of your gift over a period of time.  For only 17 cents per day you can make a Pledge of $50.00.  For only 33 cents per day you can Pledge $100.00.  If each family in our parish made a contribution of any amount, we could well exceed last year's record total of $42,113.85.  You may use a Visa, Master Card or American Express Card to make your Pledge if that is more convenient.  If you have any questions about the Appeal, please see Fr. Jay. WOULD YOU HELP US WITH OUR HOLY FAMILY BABY SHOWER?  Throughout the month of May, you are invited to place any NEW baby item(s) in the crib located near the stairs to the Choir Loft.  Items such as diapers, size 1 - 5 onesies, formula, childrens' clothes up to size 4, car seats BUT NOT STROLLERS, baby carriers, diaper bags and layette items would be greatly appreciated.  THE GIFTS WILL BE GIVEN TO BIRTHRIGHT OF GREATER TAUNTON which for years has been helping women in crisis pregnancies.  THANKS.

A MEMORIAL DAY MASS for all those buried in the Taunton Catholic Cemeteries will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Taunton, on May 31, 2010, at 10:00 a.m.  All are welcome to attend.

PLEASE PRAY for peace in our world, for our men and women in the military, especially for a safe return of those overseas; for our law enforcement, fire protection and emergency service personnel. Remember those who are preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony.  Please pray to for our parishioners who are sick at home in hospitals or nursing homes and for all the faithful departed, especially Marion Scanlon, a longtime member of our parish whose funeral Mass will be  celebrated here this Wed., May 26 at 10:00 a.m. THANKS.
