REGISTRATION FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION has been taking place during the month of August.  If you have not yet registered your child(ren), please do so this week.  If you DON'T HAVE A REGISTRATION FORM, call Karen at 508-824-3578, e-mail her at dirkaren@holyfamilytaunton.org or go to our parish Website. Students can also be registered at our Parish Ministry Fair after all Masses the weekend of Sept. 12 - 13.

THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTERING STUDENTS FOR OUR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM is this Sunday, Sept. 13.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES will begin on SUN., SEPT. 20.  Students in Grades 1,3,4,5 & 6 attending class on Sundays will meet at the Parish Center from 10:15 - 11:30 a.m.  Students in GRADE 8 (1ST Year Confirmation) and at least one parent will meet at the Parish Center from 5:00 - 6:15 p.m.  Students in GRADE 9 (2nd Year Confirmation) their sponsor and at least one parent will meet at the Parish Center from 6:45 - 8:00 p.m.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES will begin on MON., SEPT. 21 for the following: Students in Grades 1,3,4,5 & 6 attending class on Mondays will meet at the Parish Center from 4:30 - 5:45 p.m.  Students in Grade 7, and at least one parent, will meet at the Parish Center from 6:15 - 7:30 p.m.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES will begin on WED., SEPT. 23 for the following: Students in Grades 1,3,4,5 & 6 attending class on Wednesdays will meet at the Parish Center from 6:00 - 7:15 p.m.

CLASSES FOR OUR FIRST COMMUNION STUDENTS (Grade 2) will begin on SAT., SEPT. 26.  Students in Grade 2 will meet at the Parish Center from 9:45 - 11:00 a.m.

PARENT MEETINGS FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 1 - 6

THERE ARE 2 CHOICES.  At least one parent must attend one of the following sessions: Mon., Sept. 14 from 6 - 7 p.m. at the Parish Center.  At the conclusion of the session, books will be distributed.  Wed., Sept. 16 from 10 - 11 a.m. At the conclusion of the session, books will be distributed.  If you are not able to make either of these sessions, please CALL KAREN AT 508-824-3578 or e-mail her at dirkaren@holyfamily taunton.org   TO SCHEDULE A MEETING PRIOR TO THE FIRST CLASS.  Students will not be able to attend class without their book having been PREVIOUSLY picked up.  Registration Forms must be in the Religious Education Office BEFORE classes start.  Registrations will not be accepted and books not distributed the days classes begin.

Kitchen opens for supper at 5:00 p.m. (GREAT HOMEMADE FOOD)and the Sale will begin at 6:30 p.m.  There are tables for Adults and Children.  MANY GREAT GIFTS WILL BE AWARDED.  If you have not been to our Penny Sale before, this is the year to join us.  ALL ARE WELCOME.

OUR ANNUAL PARISH RAFFLE IS UNDERWAY.  Each registered family should have received two books of raffle tickets in the mail.  If you would like additional tickets, please see Fr. Jay or stop by the Parish Office.  Please make the returns to us  NO LATER THAN SEPT. 18.  Drawing will be at the Penny Sale. If each family helps out, it will be a great success.

OUR NEW BIBLE STUDY, "The Parables of Jesus: Stories of the Kingdom, will start on Tues., Oct. 6 and continue each Tuesday until Nov. 17.  We begin each week at 7:00 p.m. at the Parish Center.  Deadline for registering is Sun., Sept. 27.  There are registration forms at the entrances of church.  Please drop them off at the Parish Center, leave them in the mailbox at the Rectory or mail them to P.O. Box 619, E. Taunton, MA 02718.  ALL ARE WELCOME TO COME AND LEARN FROM SCRIPTURE WHAT JESUS IS TELLING US ABOUT LIVING AS HIS FOLLOWERS IN TODAY'S WORLD.

INTERESTED IN A PARISH BUS TRIP TO  FOXWOODS?  It would take place on Tuesday, Oct. 20, leaving the church parking lot at 9:00 a.m. and leaving Foxwoods around 4:30 p.m.  In order to reserve the bus, WE NEED PEOPLE TO SIGN UP NOW.  We need a full bus.  Cost is $25.00.  Bonus package is $15.00 Keno and $10.00 food or buffet.  SIGN UP SHEET ON TABLE NEAR STAIRS TO THE CHOIR LOFT.

IN SUPPORT OF LIFE: "Connected with our prayer must be the thoughtful and faithful reflection upon the Church's teaching on the respect for all human life and the integrity of the family.  In our homes, our Catholic schools, in parish study groups and in everyday conversations and discussions with our neighbors, we are called to give an uncompromising witness to the Gospel of Life.  Parents, parish priests and institutions of Catholic education must be aware of the constant anti-life and anti-family messages which constantly bombard us and our young people.  One has only to think, for example of the corruption of the goodness of our youth by the multi-million dollar industry of pornography, especially on the internet.  Our reflection as individuals and groups must open our eyes to the gravity of the situation in our nation, lest we fail to take responsibility for the widespread attacks on human life and the family.  Our reflection must help us all and, in a particular way, our young people to see the godless secularism and relativism which underly and justify our nation's anti-life and anti-family programs, policies and laws." WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US IN THE PARISH CENTER  AFTER ALL MASSES THIS WEEKEND FOR OUR MINISTRY FAIR.  Representatives of various parish ministries will be available  to explain what they do and invite you to consider joining.  Maybe something will interest you that will help you grow closer to the Lord.  Among our ministries are Altar Servers, Baptismal Robe crafters, Bible Study group, Parish Nurses, Vocation Prayer Committee, Respect Life Committee, Cursillo Retreat Group, CYO Basketball (players & coaches), Lectors, Teachers, Aides & Hall Monitors, Scouts, Women's Guild, Knights of Columbus, Youth & Family Ministry.  Join us after Mass this weekend for coffee & pastry and see what's happening at Holy Family.

ARE YOU CELEBRATING A SIGNIFICANT WEDDING ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR (1ST, 25TH, 50TH ETC.)?  Bishop George Coleman will celebrate a special Mass for couples celebrating significant anniversaries IN 2009 on SUN., OCT. 18 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, Fall River. HOLY FAMILY RESPECT FOR LIFE COMMITTEE will meet on THURSDAY, SEPT. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parish Center.  This group is open to anyone who wishes to promote a greater respect for all of human life, from the moment of conception until the moment of natural death.  See or call Fr. Jay and/or Carol Murphy for more details.

THINK ABOUT PARTICIPATING IN THIS YEAR'S RESPECT LIFE WALK on Sun., Oct. 4.  It aids mothers and children and takes place in Boston.  There is bus transportation from the Galleria Park & Ride leaving that day at 12:15 p.m.  Cost is $5.00 for adults & $2.00 for young people under 18.  Call Dot Nicoleau (508-674-8695)or Bea Martins (508-675-33510 )for more information and/or to reserve a spot.

A NOTE FROM FR. JAY: As we begin a new season of parish activities, it's a great opportunity for us to remember that AS CATHOLICS, WE HAVE THE PRIVILEGE AND RESPONSIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN MASS EVERY SUNDAY (or Saturday at the Vigil Mass).  We do this because "IT IS THE DAY OF THE LORD." and Jesus told us to "DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME".  It is a serious sin to miss Mass on Sunday (or the Sat. Vigil) and Holy days of Obligation for reasons other than sickness.  If you have missed Mass, especially over the summer, you should receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) BEFORE receiving Holy Communion at Mass.  Reconciliation is a gift from Jesus Himself.  Remember we have Confessions at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday or you can call Fr. Jay for an appointment at some other time.  WE NEED TO RELY ON GOD AND COME TO HIS HOUSE EACH WEEK TO WORSHIP AND BE SPIRITUALLY NOURISHED.

OUR SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND is to assist with the expenses of OPERATING OUR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM.  Your generosity will allow us to accomplish one of the vital missions of our parish....TO TEACH AS JESUS DID.  This is essential if our young people, and all parishioners, are to have a chance to grow in their Faith.  All of us can assist through our prayers for the success of our programs and through our generosity to this second collection.  THANKS.
