PARENTS AND SPONSORS of our Confirmation Students need to attend the class on Sun., May 10 from 5:45 - 8:00 p.m.  DURING THAT CLASS THE REHEARSAL WILL TAKE PLACE. The rehearsal scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

REHEARSALS FOR BOTH FIRST COMMUNION GROUPS will take place after the 4:00 p.m. Mass on Sat., April 18 AND Sat., April 25.

FIRST COMMUNION GROUP 1 will also rehearse on Wed., April 29 at 6:00 p.m. at Church.

FIRST COMMUNION GROUP 2 will also rehearse on Wed., May 6 at 6:00 p.m.

FIRST COMMUNION DVD'S.  An order form for a DVD of the First Communion Mass HAS BEEN GIVEN TO OUR 2ND GRADERS.  Parents/Guardians who wish to order a DVD are asked to complete the Form and send it along with the $30.00 payment (make Checks payable to Holy Family Church), to the Holy Family Religious Education Office, P.O. Box 619, E. Taunton, MA 02718,  NO LATER THAN SUN., APRIL 26.  We must guarantee a minimum of 10 DVD's in order to have any.  If we don't get 10, we will return your check to you. MARK DOWN THURSDAY, JULY 2 for our Annual Parish Trip to the PAWSOX.  Game starts at 6:05 p.m. and will be FOLLOWED BY A GREAT FIREWORKS DISPLAY. Tickets will be limited and will be on sale soon.

STEUBENVILLE EAST WEEKEND: We are taking deposits for this great weekend to be held on the Campus of URI from July 31 - August 2.  Those currently in 8th grade up to and including College age students are welcome to experience this Faith Filled weekend with about 2000 other young people..  A deposit of $50.00 is needed to secure a place for you.  Payment plans are available.  Fill out a registration form (found at the entrances of Church) and turn it into Karen ASAP. Join us on TUESDAY, MAY 12, for an I-PARENT PROGRAM to learn how parents around the country are making their homes and communities INTERNET SAFE through the I-Parent Campaign.  You look out for them in the real world - DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING ONLINE?  1 out of 8 children have been asked by someone on the internet to MEET FACE TO FACE.  Holy Family Parish together with the Bristol County Sheriff's Office are sponsoring this night at 6:30 p.m. in OUR CHURCH HALL.  Our speaker will be Linda Pacheco.  Call Karen at 508-824-3578. JOIN US NEXT SATURDAY, APRIL 18 for our 10th Annual "MASS OF HEALING"..  It will take place in Church at 10:00 a.m.  Anyone who is suffering from any type of serious illness is invited to join us for Mass and to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.  The Mass is open to all people.  If you know of someone who would like to attend but needs a ride, please call the Office and let us know.  If you can provide a ride for someone, please call the Office and let us know.  Refreshments will be served in the Church Hall after Mass.

MANY THANKS to all who took part in our Lenten activities: Daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, the praying of the Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Benediction, the Taunton Area Lenten Mission, our Lenten Penance Service and the Sacred Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday), as well as Operation Rice Bowl.  Thanks also to our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors, Altar Servers, Decoration Committee, Church cleaners and other volunteers who have helped us reach the JOY OF EASTER.

SPECIAL THANKS to the young members of our parish who, under Karen Coughlin's direction, helped us have a wonderful understanding of the suffering and death of Jesus in His Passion.  It was truly moving and a wonderful contribution to the life of our Parish.  Those involved were Matt Chaves, Zach Turner, Chris Pluster, Maria Reed, Elizabeth Craig, Eddie Matanes, Brandon Mastera, James Kelleher, Samantha Mattos and Ryan Barber.  We thank our organist, Mary Anderson and our Director of Music, Doug Medeiros, for their wonderful musical assistance.  Thanks to all who helped out behind the scenes as well.

FURTHER THANKS to all who gave of their time last Monday to clean the inside of our Church.  It was a great job done by all in helping to prepare us for Holy Week.

WHAT IS OUR "EASTER DUTY"?  This question is often asked during this Season.  The new Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us of the following: "We are obliged as Catholics to confess our sins AT LEAST once a year and to receive Holy Communion during the Easter Season (From Easter Sunday through Pentecost)".  The Church encourages us to receive Holy Communion, if we are properly disposed, each time we take part in Mass.

HOLY FAMILY PARISH COUNCIL will meet this Tuesday, April 14, at 7:00 p.m. in the Church Hall.  Any parishioner interested in attending is most welcome.

HOLY FAMILY PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY continues to bring great comfort to many people..  The next blessing of prayer shawls will be on Sat., April 25 at the 4:00 p.m. Mass.  Please drop off your shawls at the Rectory (Mon - Thurs from 9 - 2:30 p.m.) the week prior to April 25.  All knitters and crocheters are invited to come and participate in the blessing of your handiwork.  The shawls will then be distributed to the homebound, elderly, those in nursing homes and those suffering an illness.  Call Peggy O'Neill at 508-880-2571 if you know of someone who would benefit from receiving a shawl and/or if you have any questions.

A NOTE FROM FR. JAY: As good weather comes our way (hopefully) and we rapidly come to the conclusion of another year of Faith Formation, I wish to share this thought with you.  I believe we have a tremendous parish.  Like any family, there is always room for improvement.  One area that continues to trouble me is how Mass attendance drops once classes conclude.  I cannot emphasize enough that religious education classes are virtually a waste of time if families are not taking part in the weekly celebration of the Eucharist (Mass).  The Eucharist is the CORE OF OUR CATHOLIC FAITH.  We need now, more than ever before I think, to be nourished by the Word of God and the Sacred Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.  Please consider what your Mass participation is for the "summer months" and understand God desires to strengthen you with His gifts year-round, not just during the time we have Religious Education classes.  Our parish owes a debt of gratitude to Karen, her assistants and all our religious education teachers and aides who assist our parents, grandparents and/or guardians in sharing the Faith with our young people.

A HOLY HOUR FOR VOCATIONS, led by Bishop George Coleman, will be held next Sunday, April 19, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, Fall River..  It will include Adoration and the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.  In this season of Joy, please try to take part and pray for Vocations.

PLEASE PRAY for those who are baptized and received into Full Communion in our Church this Easter, for peace in our world, for an end to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and the genocide that continues in Africa, for the safe return of all  our troops overseas, for all who have lost their lives or suffered wounds in these wars and for their families.  Pray for those who are sick at home, in hospitals or nursing homes and for all our faithful departed, especially Laura Horta, whose funeral was celebrated here this week.
